Woogie, to answer one of your questions that I missed, it is probably highly unlikely that we would be able to play on any land around the Motocross field. The field is bordered to the north and west by roads/highways that we would not want to cross and to the far east is cropland. I do not know about the big open looking area where my map legend is. That might be playable. I do not know who owns it or even how suitable it is. It might be all marshland and/or solid brush like the Triangle of Hell.

Here are some other things I am thinking:
Minimum 8-9 players needed for this. 4 SpecOps players, 4 OpFor players and perhaps 1 person to be dispatch/HQ.
Body armor will be represented by a real or replica helmet and some kind of plate carrier with inserts, be they real, plastic or foam. When you are struct in an armored location, it reduces your wound severity by one level. KIA becomes critical, serious becomes flesh, graze becomes nothing, etc.
To help reduce the amount of water the SpecOps players will have to physically carry, we could put a large water cooler somewhere on the field to act as a "local well." It may or may not be guarded or frequented by the OpFor.
All weapons must use low or mid cap magazines. Individual magazines are not allowed to be loaded with more than 100 rounds (one pistol speedloader worth of ammo). SAWs may use regular winding high caps of 300-600 rounds. No box or drum mags.

The thing to remember though is that many Spec Ops guys don't wear body armor As it slows them down and hinders movement. They will wear the harnesses and what not, but just about every time they wont have plates in them. So I would say a no for the "body armor" and just keep it with the uniform and no armor. Now that doesn't mean that you can't wear all your gear and what not.

Body armor can be kept as a general rule for the eventuality that we do a non-SpecOps centric event (or armored OpFor). No one has to wear the stuff, but I wanted a rules incentive for people to do so if they were so inclined.

I got ya.... Was thinking you were talking about this event.
Though I don't mind the idea of the "bad guys" haveing some sort of crude body armor. Like some old school Russian stuff or what not.
I really like the idea of a "well" but instead of just one, why not have two or three. This will give people the option to watch one, and try to keep it as theirs.
And with the Op-for they need something to keep them busy as well. I was thinking about the ideas that they had over at Apoc, with the mining idea. Give the bad guys something to do as well, like a really big puzzle or something like that. Where they have to work to get their "object" or what have you, in order to complete their mission.
I am going to start working on a master packing list. Will have a section for required items, saftey items and what not. And a list for the "would be nice to have".
*** And if you have more to add to your post, if you are going to post right under it, just use the modify button.... so we can have one large post, rather than 5 and 6 smaller post. Just helps to keep the thread cleaner ***

are you thinking of having the event this year say in October, or next spring?

I think the idea was to have it next spring. Though I honestly wouldn't mind having it in say July or something. So you have to deal with the bugs and what not

I would rather have it in august, so that the allergy season is over.

This is almost certainly not going to happen this year. We just do not have the time left in the season. As for next year, I am partial to August or September. We will see what schedules look like when we are not so far out.

Just want to make sure that the nights are still fairly warm. Don't want to have to worry about the cold weather on people durring the nights.

I was getting into a lot of the details on the event, and it got me to thinking..... Are we jumping in the deep end of the pool to quick? Maybe would should do a 12 hour event and see what people think.
And then we can adjust and tweak the game to know what works and what doesn't. And that way we don't have to worry about all of the crap that night ops bring with it.
We could say start at 0900 and end at 2100-2200.... still a long day of gaming and play.
Was also thinking of another kind of game for the long hours as well. Would there be anyone willing to play a "hostage". If we can get a player to do that, then we can have a mission to try and get into an enemy camp, and retrieve the captive.
All the while still trying to figure out why the opfor captured the person and was keeping him.

Next year. It was never really planned for this one.
I have no intrinsic problem running a shorter event. We could also still include overnight, but not run a full 24 hours. Start in the afternoon, end the following morning. You still have all the fun of night and guard duty and getting tired with plenty of daylight hours.

That might not be a bad idea.
Start at say 1800 or so, and end at 0900-1000. Still play durring the day time and night time.
Would be nice if we could get a burn barrel or something, so we can have a fire for staying warm. As well as a small generator or something, and use those as different objectives.
