Ryan has emailed me this game idea, and I am greatly for it.
The core idea is to have an ultra-realistic game that focuses on quality over quantity. The Wisconsin thread on the idea is here:
www.wiairsoft.com/forums/showthread.php?9306-quot-Hardcore-Mil-Sim-quot-Campaign-Ideas
I highly recommend reading Kerriks's quoted overview and AAR halfway down the first page.
Kerrik ran a test scenario with only 8 players, so I figure there is a possibility of putting something of this scale together in our region. Here are the basic of what I am thinking:
*Elaborate wounding and medic rules. No respawns or healing. You can only stabilize casualties and get them CASEVACed. Death takes you out of the game for quite a while.
*You only get the supplies you take onto the field. No returning to vehicles and no reloading on the field. You do not even take loose ammo or speedloaders with you. Low/midcaps only, except for SAWs.
*A much slower and more realistic scenario. Rather than the usual BB slinging event, this one would focus on planning and limiting engagement whenever possible. Rather than just attacking the objective, you may spend an hour or two observing it and getting into position before striking suddenly, dispatching the guards, grabbing/destroying the objective and melting back into the woods.
*As close to full immersion as we can get. Set up the scenario to react realistically. For instance, in the beginning when the OpFor is completely unaware that hostiles are in the area, they will have their guard down for the most part. After the first firefight they will be more alert. Perhaps they call for reenforcements, making the area that much more dangerous. Perhaps the player force has cracked the OpFor’s comms and can listen in to their radio traffic.
*A 24-hour scenario, starting say at noon Saturday and ending noon Sunday. Everyone sleeps in the field and has to pull guard rotations. You have to carry your own food and water for the day.
*Obviously we would need a lot of land for this. At the moment the biggest field to which we have access is the Newfolden Motocross field where I run Rice Paddy.
I figure since there would be so few of us involved, that we could put our heads together to iron out all the rules. Now, I know that not everyone on this e-mail has everything that would be required for the game (midcaps, radios, etc), but the rest of us could help cover.
So the main question would be this....... how many of you guys out there would be up for a game like this? We don't need 200 people to play, even if we would be able to get 10 or so people we could have great fun.
Voice your opinions and what not and lets get something like this worked out!
